Mel Fowler is a worship leader at Influencers Church Atlanta and a core member of the Influencers music team. Mel has a passion to equip and empower worship leaders, singers and musicians In both the local and global context. Mel’s passion is to see her students find their true unique voice and enjoy the process. Although classically trained, Mel teaches both traditional and modern styles while staying rooted in sound technique.
Mel Fowler’s own journey with music began at an early age singing with her grandmother and in church. After getting involved in choir and musical theater in high school she decided this was what she wanted to pursue as a career. While attending Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA, she was afforded the opportunity to travel abroad with a gospel choir for missions. Her love of theater grew as well and she played various lead roles in the spring musicals and directed the fall One Act Festival her Junior and Senior year. Mel received her BA in Vocal Performance and B. of Music education in 2001 and 2003. After completing her degrees, she taught high school and middle school chorus and drama for several years before taking a different direction with her music. She became a missionary and full time worship leader at the International House of Prayer in Atlanta as well as teaching private voice and piano lessons. After transitioning to the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, MO, in 2010, Mel became voice faculty for Forerunner Music Academy at IHOPU (International House of Prayer University). There she helped write and establish their current vocal curriculum which is used school wide.
